Ganges - Year 6

Welcome to Ganges Class.

 Key information

  • Our class is named after the river Ganges. It is the second largest river in India. The Ganges river is named after a Hindu goddess called Ganga. Geographers, Historians and Mythologists regard Ganges as the heart of Indian culture, tradition and living.

  • Our class teacher is Miss James.

  • Miss Francis is our teaching assistant.

  • PE day is on a Thursday with Miss Jamie.

Maths and English Practise

IXL have separate pages of skills linked to individual Year group.  The Y6 page has links to practise both English and Maths skills.  Pages are then split into skills of which has a practise question for the children to think about.

BBC Education have produced a whole host of materials for KS2.  Follow the KS2 link and then select either Maths or English.   Each area usually has an information section for reading, plus an activity and then quiz which is marked online.  Some aspects require a subscription.

Year 6 in Action!

Anti-Bullying Week 2023

In celebration of Anti-Bullying Week, the children took part in a workshop. The session raised awareness about the negative impacts of bullying, encouraged the children to stand up against discrimination and promoted the importance of individuality.

RE

On Tuesday12th December, Mike (Ordinand / Youth Lead from Holy Trinity Church) delivered a lesson on the true meaning of Christmas. We reflected on why Christmas is an important time for Christians. In addition, we explored the most important customs in comparison to the least important customs. 

Science

This term, our topic is 'Energy: Light and reflection'. We investigated factors that affect the size and shape of a shadow, by answering the enquiry question ‘How does the distance between the object and the surface affect the size of the shadow?’.
